Sol Body: Shimmering Dry Oil Collection - Review & Swatches

Sol Body, ColourPop’s sister brand created by Seed Beauty, is here to up the ante on our summer glow. The brand was named after the “glistening effect that the sun (or sol in spanish) has when the light hits the skin”. They’ve launched their first body product to give you the ultimate summer glow. The dry oil contains multi-dimensional shimmer infused with coconut, argan, and marula oils for a glistening glow. So many brands like Fenty, Huda Beauty, Patrick Ta have launched body shimmers and the only thing they all have in common are the high price points. Just like Colourpop, Sol Body carries amazing affordable products. The body shimmers are priced at $15 USD and sold at colourpop.com.

The packaging is a luxe glass bottle that would rival it’s higher priced competitors. The caps are not so sturdy as mine cracked easily. The formula is vegan and cruelty-free and ranges from light to dark although all shades are described as for all skin tones. The scent just reminds me of vacation; it has a tropical coconut aroma. The texture is quite liquid so I recommend working in small sections. It also helps to work in small sections to avoid it from drying down quickly. A little goes a long way. It’s probably best to apply it with a brush because when I used my hands the glitter was everywhere. The formula is very sparkly and glistens beautifully in the sun. I wore it when I went to the beach and I loved the shine it gave and it stayed on even after I took a dip in the water. I wouldn’t wear this on my skin for indoor/artificial lighting because the oil dries and just leaves specs of glitter. I have this issue with most dry oils that I’ve tried. I wish the formula stayed a little oily but it does absorb. Some might like that it isn’t greasy nor sticky. The shade Bronze looks the most natural on my skin tone so I use it on my legs as it blends in better. It also the only one without any silver pearls in it or a strong base colour. I suggest picking the shade closest to your skin tone. The formula is also not transfer proof, the glitter gets on everything.

PLATINUM - a shimmering ivory gold with highlights of silver and gold pearl.

SOFT GOLD - a radiant champagne gold with highlights of silver and gold pearl.

WARM GOLD - a vibrant warm gold with highlights of gold, pink, and silver pearl.

BRONZE - a rich, glowing bronze with highlights of copper and gold pearl.

You can purchase all four body oils in a bundle with a kabuki brush for $58 USD. The kabuki brush is very soft and blends the product in well. If you’re not a fan of glitter, these body shimmers may not be for you.
