The Best of 2016 Beauty Products
Hi Beauties!
As we enter 2017, I thought I would highlight my holy grail products of 2016. Some are old and some are newer items but they have definitely been in the rotation this year. As I previously posted my top palettes of 2016 (see here), I'm going to focus more on my other top makeup and skincare products. I also refrained from included some newer items that I recently acquired such as the Mac Mariah Carey Collection (Reviewed here).
Skincare:
Tarte skincare:
I have really come to love the Tarte skincare items that I have tried this year. First up are items from the Maracuja line. I have been using the Maracuja C-brighter Eye Treatment, Neck Treatment and the Maracuja Oil religiously. Maracuja has amazing properties including brightening vitamin C and adds instant hydration. I also like the Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer. It's like water for my skin, the formula is very lightweight and refreshing.
Pixi Skincare:
Pixi has some great skincare products but unfortunately it is not sold here in Canada. The first Pixi product I tried was the Glow Tonic which I purchased at Gen Beauty. On my initial use, my skin broke out a little but since then my skin has grown tolerant to the product. The tonic is alcohol free and gently exfoliates and tones the skin. I also love the Rose Oil Blend to moisturize and the Nourishing Cleansing Balm which is a balm to oil cleanser. It removes traces of makeup and leaves the skin feeling very nourished. The Glow Mud Mask is another favourite of mine.
Face:
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer:
I received this bronzer as a sample and I love using it to contour my face. It is the perfect shade to contour my cheekbones and nose with. I've been using it non-stop and probably will purchase the full size once I hit pan on it.
Too Faced Born this Way Concealer: (Reviewed here)
This concealer launched earlier this year and I was able to test it before it hit stores. The formula is creamy and lightweight. It is very hydrating as it is infused with coconut oil. The shade I have is good for brightening the under eye area.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer:
I'm so happy I was able to get my hands on this concealer as it is out of stock very often. The full coverage it provides is amazing. It brightens, diminishes any fine lines and hides pores. The formula is on the thicker side but it's hydrating and doesn't crease. It makes the under eye area look so smooth. I highly recommend trying this concealer.
NYX Ombre Blushes: (Reviewed here)
These two tone gradient blushes are so pretty. The shades can be worn separately or blended together into a gorgeous shade. The pan size is pretty big considering the price point. They are also very pigmented. My favourite one of the bunch is Mauve Me.
Eyes:
NYX Glitters:
I discovered these glitters this year and I have to say they are stunning. I love the colour range that they come in and they really make your lids sparkle. I recommend using glitter glue prior to application.
Brows:
ABH Brow Definer:
Anastasia makes amazing brow products and this one is no exception. I like using this pencil when I'm trying to achieve a fuller brow. I use the shade Chocolate.
Benefit Brow Products: (Reviewed here)
Benefit Cosmetics did a major revamp of their brow collection earlier this year. Some are older products that have been upgraded with a new formula, colour and packaging while some are brand new items. I enjoy using the Precisely, My Brow Pencil and the Goof Proof Pencil. I also have the Ka-brow, Browvo Primer and the High Brow Highlighting Pencil.
Lips:
Nudestix Gel Colour Lip and Cheek Balm:
These Nudestix balms are full of colour and very hydrating. They are perfect for on the go and come in chic tin case with a sharpener. I like to keep these in my purse. I also have a discount code, use MYBEAUTYFAVSBB16 for 15% off their site (shop here).
Tarte Lip Sculptor:
This lipstick and lipgloss duo is such a great essential to own. I'm all about glossy lips and these are full of vitamins and oils to keep your lips hydrated. The 2 in 1 tool is very portable for travel. The formula is full coverage and non-sticky.
Huda Beauty Liquid mattes (Reviewed here and here)
You guys may already know this is my favourite liquid lipstick formula. It's lightweight and so comfortable. I currently have two of the full size lipsticks and two mini's in shades Bombshell, Venus, Muse and Trophy Wife. You can see swatches in the above links.
Lashes:
Salon Perfect - #614, #615
Huda Beauty - Samantha
Brushes:
Sigma Baking and Strobing Brush Set (reviewed here)
