Tarte Rainforest of the Sea – Lipsticks and Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches:
Hi there!
The Rainforest of the Sea line launched early this year for Tarte’s Spring/Summer 2016 Collection. This collection is “powered by Tarte’s Rainforest of the Sea complex for hydration, environmental defense and a brightening, radiant finish”. There are a wide range of products in this line including skincare, face products, lipsticks, an eyeshadow palette and brushes. Today I will be discussing my thoughts and swatches of some of the Drench Lip Splash Lipsticks as well as the Eyeshadow Palette from this collection.
Drench Lip Splash Lipsticks:
There are 12 beautiful shades in this line and I own 7 of them. I mentioned the shade Cabana Boy in a previous favourite’s post (see here). I love the formula of these lipsticks. It’s light weight and moisturizing as it is made with oils and butters. The texture feels almost velvety. The formula is supposed to be full coverage with a matte finish; however, they deliver a semi matte to satin finish. They tend to creep up in the lip lines after 4-6 hours of wear but easily disappears once applied.
Shades: (L-R)
- Firework - Red
- Wet Suit – Plum Berry
- Surfer Girl – Cool Fuchsia
- Bikini – Pink Coral
- Mai Tai - Orange
- Happy - Rose
Packaging:
Ok, the only downside to these lipsticks is that they are very delicate. Once raised up out of the tube, they don’t stand very sturdy. The outside packaging is gorgeous with a purple and gold ombre effect. The tube does tend to get messy though when you roll the lipstick back down and it grazes against the casing.
Eyeshadow Palette:
This limited edition palette contains 8 neutral tone shadows which features Tartes new velvety formula that is meant to hydrate the lids. The cream powder formula is very smooth, blendable and pigmented. I am very drawn towards the metallics in this palette. A couple of the mattes did not perform well when swatched (Cove and Sand).
Packaging:
The packaging is stunning with purple and aqua peacock feather design with gold accents. A sizable mirror is housed inside. It’s very sturdy and luxurious. With that said, I probably wouldn’t use it for travelling as I like to travel with my lower end products.
Colours: (L-R)
- Seashell - pink
- Wave - slate
- Abyss - dark brown
- Reef - copper
- Starfish - bronze
- Cove - tan
- Sand - ivory
- Mermaid - gold
Final Thoughts:
I definitely recommend trying the Drench lipsticks. Beside the fragility, I love the velvety formula. If you’re looking for a pigmented lipstick that’s moisturizing and won’t dry out your lips, this is a winner. I have worn the shade Cabana Boy many times in the past couple of months and I even talked about it in previous posts (April Favourites & Sephora VIB Sale). It’s my go to lipstick that I keep in my purse. The eyeshadow palette is so pretty and the new formula is not dry or patchy. It blends like a dream. The colours will compliment any skin tone.
Hope you enjoyed this review and swatches! I am currently holding a giveaway with some amazing Tarte products. See the rules in my previous post.
