Quay X Desi Perkins High Key Sunglasses - Black Fade
Hi Beauties!
I finally purchased a pair of sunglasses that was designed in collaboration with YouTube star Desi Perkins and Quay Australia. Desi is my favourite Youtuber; I love her work and there is no exception with this collab. I've wanted the style High Key since it came out in 2016 and for some reason, I always thought the sunglasses weren't available to us Canadians and I never bothered to look into it. Every time I went to the States, I would check Nordstrom or Bloomingdales but couldn't find them. When pictures of the Black Fades surfaced online, I knew I had to have them. It turns out that Quay Australia does ship to Canada but at a heavy price point. I thought I would share my shopping experience as well as some pics so you can see how they look on.
The glasses retail for $65 USD and is currently back in stock on Quayaustralia.com. You can also shop these at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. The modern-day aviator features an oversized metal frame and reflective flat gradient lens. It also has silicone nose pads, thin metal arms and stainless steel hinges. They come in a chic clear case and cleaning cloth with the collab name printed on it. They are quality sunglasses that don't feel or look cheap. They don't feel like luxury glasses either which is what I'm used to wearing but they cost a fraction of the price. They wear very comfortably with the exception of the mark on the nose from the nose pads.
Sunglasses are my favourite accessory and have become a staple in my wardrobe especially aviators. They can dress up any outfit and achieve a cool, glamorous or trendy fashion statement. The High Key - Fades does all of the above. I just wish it didn't cost me so much. The price point is set correctly but with the additional shipping and duty, it makes me question if it is worth it. Shipping fees were $15 which brought the total purchase price to $80 USD which in turn costs me roughly around $110 CAD that I was totally fine with. However, to my surprise, I had to pay $26 in duty costing me a total of over $130 CAD for the glasses. With that said, I think it's worth it without the incidental costs. I wouldn't mind picking up another pair but only if I can find them in the States to avoid the shipping and duty fees.

Have you purchased from Quay Australia before? What are your thoughts?
