FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna - Killawatt Highlighter Trophy Wife, Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule and Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation #150, 220, 300, 340 & 420

Are you ready to shine bright like a diamond? After two years in the making, singer Rihanna has debuted her makeup line Fenty Beauty. The line was created with "the Kendo division of LVMH, which also produces Marc Jacobs Beauty and Kat Von D Cosmetics". We were teased with photos and swatches of the collection the day before its launch by various vloggers that attended the release party. I automatically knew this collection would be a hit in my books. The collection is strongly focused on complexion and achieving a popping highlighter. Say no more, I'm sold. For now, there aren't any eyeshadows or lipsticks in the line but who knows what's in store for the brand. Rihanna has focused on creating a three-step beauty routine which I will outline below. You will also be seeing my haul from the line along with swatches. There is also a first impressionss demo video below.

Step 1: Start with a soft matte filt'r

Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer - $40 CAD/$32 USD

The first step is to prime with the Pro Filt'r Instant Retouch Primer. The primer is oil free and is said to smooth the look of pores, even skin tone and absorb shine which helps with the foundation application as extends makeup wear. I received a small sample of this primer and it feels soft and moisturizing on the skin.

Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation - $42 CAD/$34 USD

A soft matte, long-wear foundation with buildable, medium to full coverage. It has an oil-free formula that’s resistant to sweat and humidity. I'm not much of a foundation girl but I love this foundation. It leaves a smooth finish while hiding imperfections and evens out skin tone. I have normal skin type and I didn't notice any drying. It did not crease or get patchy throughout the day and it's long lasting. It dries fast so you have to work quickly and it dries slightly darker but not enough to make a difference. It's comfortable to wear and it looks like my skin. There is a huge range of 40 different shades to suit every skin type. I'm shade #300 which is for medium to tan skin with neutral undertones. I ordered a deluxe sample online of shade #340 but it was too dark so I'm glad I went into the store to get colour matched. I highly recommend you doing the same.

Step 2: Layer that Highlight

There are many cream and powder highlighters in this line. I picked up two of the power highlighters.

Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter - $42 CAD/$34 USD

There is cream to powder hybrid highlighters that are available in two solo shades and four perfectly paired duos. The formula contains superfine shimmer that blends seamlessly into the skin. They can be worn on your face, eyes, lips, collarbone and body. I purchased Trophy Wife and Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule duo as they stood out to me the most. The other shades look gorgeous in the pan but they weren't calling my name once applied. They were either not sparkly enough or one shade was better in the duo than the other on me. I saw on the Fenty Beauty IG stories that these highlighters apply better when applied in a circular motion.

Trophy Wife is the highlight of this collection in my opinion. It is a stunning gold highlight that Rihanna was wearing the night of the Fenty Beauty launch party. It is described as a 3D hyper-metallic gold and that's very accurate. If you like that in your face highlight, you will love this one. However, I don't think it will work on every skin tone. It may pull on the yellow side. I was afraid of it looking too yellow on me but it didn't. A light hand is all you need and once blended out it gives an otherworldly sparkly glow. It's definitely not your everyday highlighter. It almost gives you that wet sheen look. You can see this Killawatt in action in the below video.

Ginger Binge/ Moscow Mule - is described as soft copper sheen / supercharged copper shimmer respectively. These two shades are just beautiful. The two combined look better as a blush topper on me. Ginger Binge which is the lighter shade looks very pretty on its own as a highlighter. These also look great on the lids and as an inner corner highlight. I'm wearing Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule combined in the picture below as a blush and Trophy Wife as my highlight.

Step 3: Blot on the Fly

Rihanna has also created a blotting powder and well as blotting paper to absorb shine and have you looking photo-ready 24/7.

I'm truly impressed with the items that I have tried from the Fenty Beauty Line. The collection is not only limited to the products listed above. There is also a lipgloss and makeup brushes. I didn’t pick up any of the Matte or Shimmer Match Stix as I don’t see myself using it that often. I found the price point for everything in this collection to be reasonable. I was expecting it to be a lot more pricey. I really like the foundation so I might pick up the full size. I love that Rihanna has tried to create something for everyone from pale to deep skin tones.
