ColourPop Semi-Precious Eye Shadow Palette - Review, Photos & Swatches
Hi Beauties!
As a Canadian, I'm so glad that ColourPop is readily available at Sephora. The selection is limited but we do avoid the shipping and duty fees which can end up costing a leg and an arm for such affordable products. I recently purchased the Semi-Precious Eye Shadow Palette and I couldn't be more happy with it. The palette retails for $33 CAD and $26 USD at Sephora (currently sold out on the Canadian site) and Colourpop.com. Luckily for me I was able to snag it on sale on Sephora. I will be sharing my review along with swatches below.
The palette was inspired by celestial lights and stars. It contains eight jewel-toned shimmery metallic shades in blues, teals, reds, greens, pinks and golds. The palette is housed in a slim blue cardboard packaging with rose gold accents. It does not include a mirror on the inside which doesn't matter to me. I'm all for an entire metallic palette and don't mind using other shades/palettes to complete the eye look. The pan sizes are slightly bigger than the regular ColourPop shadows. It includes mostly warm-toned shades but also has a cool toned shade, Beam Me Up. The shadows are highly pigmented; a little goes a long way. No glitter glue is required to achieve an opaque colour payoff. The texture is ultra velvety and silky and they blend seamlessly. As the consistency of the formula is so soft and creamy, I noticed that the shadows began to crease in the folds of my eye after 5 hours of wear. I'm not sure if it's just me and my skin is changing as I age. I've tried using a primer and setting the primer before application and I had the same result. It helps to apply it with a brush as opposed to my fingers to get a precise application and keep the shadow in place.
Celestial: warm champagne ivory
Beam Me Up: icy pale blue
Easy Go: vibrant cranberry
Up & Atom: golden amber
West Star: rich copper brown
Bashful: soft icy green
Upon a Star: cool rose
The Game: antique gold
If you haven't tried ColourPop shadows, don't sleep on them. Colourpop has amazing quality products at affordable prices. The shades in the Semi- Precious Palette are beautiful and it includes all the lid shades that I would want in a palette. I love the gold, pink and cranberry shades the most. As the shadows crease on me, I can't wear them when I plan on wearing my makeup for long periods of time. I think this is just an issue that I'm having and I would still recommend the Semi-Precious Palette.
