Artist Couture - Caliente Palette: Review, Swatches and Makeup Look
Hi Beauties!
Artist Couture is turning up the heat their new Caliente Summer Collection. Founder, Angel Merino AKA Mac_Daddyy on IG, wanted to create a collection that told a story about his culture and background. Red automatically comes to his mind when thinking of Latin culture. There are bold and vibrant reds, oranges and yellows that got my eye in this mini eyeshadow palette. The palette features five mattes, two richly pigmented metallics, and one multidimensional high pearl shade. The Caliente Palette retails for $40 CAD at Sephora.
The palette is housed in an orange and red ombre palette. It is sleek and perfect for travel. It is sturdy and it feels expensive. The shades scream summer and they remind me of the sunset. I love bright shades and these colours are right up my alley. I feel you can bring this palette into fall and do a pumpkin spice look or a cherry look with the pink and reds. The metallics, Mangorita, Brillo and Rumba, are very beautiful orange, coral and gold shades. They are pigmented and apply best with your fingers but I was able to pick up pigment on a brush. Brillo has sparkly flecks and is great as a topper or inner corner and brow highlight. The mattes however are dry and some are chalky. Vibras, Fuego and Mamacita actually feel textured but I had no issues with pigmentation once applied. Cultura isn’t as pigmented as the other mattes but it gives a wash of colour. The staying power was very good, the shades lasted over 8 hours.
Shade Descriptions:
Cultura - Matte bright yellow
Fuego - Matte bright orange
Vibras - Matte fuchsia pink
Mangorita - Metallic golden orange
Rumba - Metallic orange
Brillo - Coral pink base with multidimensional magenta reflects
Mamacita - Matte vibrant pinky red
Sensual - Matte deep terracotta orange
Overall, I think it’s a great little palette for what it’s worth. The colour story is so fun and I love the packaging. I do wish the mattes were softer in texture. I took it with me on my birthday trip and was able to create a simple but bold look within minutes. As you may know, hotel bathrooms are not the easiest to get ready in but my eyes looked like I spent hours on it. I also used it to create a more dramatic look above and I love how the shades came together.
