UD Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette
I know I’m a little late in the game when it comes to this beautiful palette designed by Gwen Stefani and Urban Decay. It was gifted to me for Valentine’s Day by my wonderful husband. The palette contains 15 eye shadows; 12 of which are brand new shades and were named by Gwen. Each eye shadow name was inspired by her music. There is even No doubt song title, “Magic’s in the Makeup”, printed on the palette’s mirror. The packaging is gorgeous as I said in the previous review of the Blush Palette from this line (read here). I love the black and white packaging and gold accents. I have to say though it reminds me of the game Connect 4. Gwen has an amazing sense of taste and these shades are a reflection of her signature style.
To be honest, I originally passed on buying this palette when it came out at the end of last year. I felt this palette had too many neutrals for my liking. That might be a plus for some, but there are a lot of skin tone colours that would work best with light to medium complexions. I’m drawn to more colourful shades so the first row of this palette is more my type of colours as well as Punk and Steady in the back row. I can already tell that the gold shade 1987 will be my favourite and that blue colour Danger will look pretty on the lower lash line. The other shades look like different variations of beige. If you don’t already own many neutral palettes, then this palette will be great.
I was considering returning it but as many other makeup addicts; I’m a sucker for packaging. Not to mention this palette looks really great alongside my other picks from this collection. I also didn’t want to hurt my hubby’s feelings by returning it. Plus the quality of the shadows are very smooth and blendable and I can’t wait to create some cool looks with it. Do you have this palette? What are your thoughts?
